Acer Liquid Jade Plus and Liquid Leap will be launched in August

Acer announced the 7.5mm-thin Liquid Jade smartphone at the end of May, saying that it would launch it in the third quarter of the year. The handset hasn’t been released yet, but we now have details about an Acer Liquid Jade Plus, which is essentially the same device, but with two improved features.

While the Liquid Jade offers 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage space, the Liquid Jade Plus
comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. That aside, the smartphones are offering an identical set of specs: 5-inch display with 720 x 1,280 pixels, dual SIM capabilities, 2MP front-facing camera, 13MP rear camera, quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek processor, microSD card support, and a 2,100 mAh battery. Android 4.4 KitKat is on board.

According to Teltarif, the Liquid Jade Plus will be available in Germany starting August, for €279. We’re guessing that the handset will be released in other markets at about the same time.

Alongside the Liquid Jade Plus, Acer will launch the Liquid Leap, its very first wearable device. The Liquid Leap features a 1-inch OLED touchscreen display, and provides access to calls, messages, and music player, while also gathering fitness and health information. The smartband will be available starting August for €99.

Acer didn’t say if it plans to release the Liquid Jade and Liquid Leap in North America, but we’ll let you know if we hear anything on this.
