Samsung's 7-inch Galaxy W launches in China as the Tab Q, still makes phone calls

Samsung released its odd Galaxy W in South Korea at the beginning of June, and it’s now bringing it to other markets. The device was officially introduced in China, where it’s known as the Samsung Galaxy Tab Q.

Just like the version that’s available in Samsung’s home country, the Tab Q sports a 7-inch display with 720 x 1,280 pixels and a 16:9 aspect ratio (this is what makes it odd). Despite the fact that it has a new name - which suggests it’s a tablet - the Galaxy Tab Q can make phone calls. Of course, at 191.84 x 99.7 x 8.95 mm and 250 grams, it’s not the ideal
product to help you carry a conversation, but the functionality is there anyway.

The Tab Q runs Android (apparently 4.3 Jelly Bean), and further comes with a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, LTE, NFC, 2MP front-facing camera, 8MP rear camera, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable internal memory, and a 3,200 mAh battery. It has two versions in China: SM-T2556 and SM-T2558, the latter offering dual SIM capabilities.

We assume that Samsung will release the Tab Q / Galaxy W in other countries in the near future, although there’s no confirmation on this yet. Anyhow, would you use this as your main phone? Let us know in the comments!
