5 smartphones with the highest pixel density

5 smartphones with the highest pixel density
Breaking the 500ppi pixel density barrier seemed impossible two years ago, and improbable a year back, but here we are now, with plenty of smartphones sporting the eye-watering 1440x2560 pixels Quad HD resolution. It was the Chinese siblings Vivo and Oppo that first equipped handsets of theirs with QHD panels, but it wasn't really until LG decided to do so with the G3 flagship this year that Quad HD phones started to get into the mainstream.

The higher the screen's pixel density, the more discernible small text and diminutive detail, and those QHD phones deliver great in that respect. Also, if you happen to have plenty of storage and patience to download handy, you can watch 2K movies in their full resolution on those phones. That kind of sums up the advantages, though, as the QHD panels are still quite the battery and screen brightness hogs, and yet they offer some of the highest pixel densities in the world, rivaling and surpassing those of some professional equipment. Here are five of the phones with highest pixel density at the moment, starting with the brand spanking new Fujitsu Arrows - as you can see, all of these sport Quad HD resolution panels, surprise, surprise

5 phones with the highest pixel density

1. Galaxy S5 LTE-A

The Korea-exclusive Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A, which was announced shortly after the standard Galaxy S5, is one of the most hardware-packed devices at the moment. The S5 LTE-A makes use of a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with the whopping 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution, returning the breathtaking 576ppi pixel count. Powering the monstrous IP67-rated (dust- and water-resistant) phone is the very latest flagship chipset from Qualcomm - the 2.5GHz, quad-core Snapdragon 805 with an Adreno 420 GPU, along with 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM. The rest of the specifications overlap completely with what the Galaxy S5 has to offer - a 16-megapixel ISOCELL camera, a fingerprint sensor, a heartbeat monitor, and a 2,800 mAh battery.

2. Fujitsu Arrows NX F-02G

With a 5.2" Quad HD display, the Fujitsu Arrows NX F-02G is a newcomer in the Fall 2014/Spring 2015 lineup of Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo. The panel maker managed to cram 1440x2560 pixels in that screen diagonal, returning the whopping 565ppi pixel density, or the highest on any phone currently. The rest of the specs are no laughing matter either, as the phone ships with a hearty 3500 mAh battery, Snapdragon 801 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage, 13 MP camera, and is waterproof at that.

3. LG G3

LG jumped the gun first from all major phone manufacturers, and equipped this year's G3 flagship with a Quad HD LCD display of its own making. At 1440x2560 pixels and 5.5" diagonal, the G3 returns 538ppi, allowing the G3 to occupy the second place in our pixel density ranking.

4. Oppo Find 7

We'd wager to say that the Oppo Find 7 uses the same screen panel as the G3, thus sharing a place with it in our density brawl, as it sports the same 538ppi pixel count, but also the Snapdragon 801 processor, and a 13 MP camera on the back.

5. Samsung Galaxy Note 4

With a 5.7" diagonal, and Quad HD resolution, Note 4 occupies the 5th place in our list of phones with the highest pixel density, which is all the more impressive, given that this is an AMOLED display, and with almost perfect color presentation at that - a first for Samsung. Besides the amazing 515ppi pixel density, it also packs the newest Snapdragon 805 processor, an improved S Pen stylus, and a 16 MP optically-stabilized camera, making it one of the most decked-out and futureproof handsets currently available.
