Apple just announced that it’s going to host a press event next week, on
October 16, at its campus in Cupertino. As always, the company does not
mention what the event is about, but it says that “it’s been way too
long” - possibly referring to the fact that it’s been almost a year
since its iPad Air was introduced (on October 22, 2013).
As we told you last week, Apple is expected to unveil its next-generation iPad Air, likely called iPad Air 2, on October 16. New Macs could also be announced, alongside a new iPad mini.
Some photos that allegedly present an iPad Air 2 replica were revealed earlier today, showing a tablet that’s thinner than the original iPaid Air, while having a home button that might include Apple’s TouchID fingerprint scanner. Other features that the new iPad reportedly has: Apple’s new A8 processor, 2 GB of RAM, and an 8 MP rear camera. The upcoming tablet should have storage options from 32 GB to 128 GB, and three color versions: silver, grey, and gold.
You
can see the iPad Air 2 replica that we mentioned above in the slideshow
below (keep in mind that we can't be sure that this is what the real
iPad Air 2 will look like):
