CyanogenMod 11 successfully ported to Android One devices

Android One
Traditionally, devices powered by MediaTek processors have had little to no support when it comes to the availability of custom ROMs, but all that is changing as CyanogenMod 11 has been successfully ported over to the first wave of Android One devices.

Users on Spice Dream Uno, Karbonn Sparkle V and the Micromax Canvas A1 can now install CyanogenMod 11. Although the ROM is in early stages of development, most of the hardware-based functions are working. There are a few issues, however, as the ROM does not allow for dual-SIM connectivity or cellular data. The developer has mentioned that he is working on a fix, so be sure to follow the development thread from the link below.

There is more good news for Indian consumers, as a report from last week mentioned that Cyanogen was working with Micromax in launching a device powered by CyanogenMod later this year. Cyanogen has already inked deals with Oppo and OnePlus, but a partnership would Micromax would serve to increase the install base of CyanogenMod considerably. We'll share additional details with you as and when we hear them.

For instructions on how to install CyanogenMod 11 on your Android One device, head on over to the link below.
