Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. will be given a license to invest $3 billion to build its second mobile phone factory in Vietnam, Reuters reported, citing Dau Tu, a government newspaper on Monday.
The factory will be in Thai Nguyen province, where Samsung Electronics Vietnam has a $2 billion plant making mobile phones since March 2014, according to the report.
The latest investments would bring Samsung's commitment to the Southeast Asian nation to $11 billion.
Earlier media reports have said Samsung has won an “investment certificate” to build an electronics facility in Hoh Chi Minh City in Vietnam, at an expense of $1.4 billion.
