“Grand Theft Auto 5” will launch for the PC Jan. 27, and a recent Facebook post confirmed Auckland, New Zealand-based software developer and technical artist Hayssam Keilany is working on an ICEnhancer mod for “GTA 5.”
“We gotta see what the PC will offer, It might not require much editing in terms of shaders and stuff but mostly artistic changes to fit everyone's taste,” Keilany said in a post on Wednesday. “Expect to see dark, unsaturated, shiny cars preset and oversaturated, matte cars presets, etc.”Keilany has created mods for 2008’s “Grand Theft Auto IV.”
“It's how things work, everyone have their own tastes,” he added. “V is already pretty, soon we can make it prettier for our own vision. That's the magic of modding, make the game your own.”
A current-gen version of “Grand Theft Auto 5” launched for the eighth-generation Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in November, but players were altering the action-adventure game with modded Xbox 360 devices and PlayStation 3 consoles since the game’s initial release in November 2013.
It will be interesting to see how Keilany’s ICEnhancer mod will improve the game, since New York City-based developer Rockstar has significantly improved the game’s graphics in the PS4 and Xbox One versions.
“GTA 5” is an open-world action game developed by Scotland-based Rockstar North and published by NYC-based Rockstar Games. “GTA V,” which received highly favorable reviews, was the 15th installment in the “GTA” series and the first game since 2008’s “GTA IV.” Following its release, the game received the Game of the Year award at the 2013 Golden Joystick Awards. Only three days following its release, IGN listed “GTA V” as second on its list of “Top 25 Xbox 360 Games.”
