When it comes to bezel-free displays, there’s none to beat Japan’s Sharp. However, the bezel-less handsets are sold only in the home-country Japan. Once in a while, the tech giant’s handsets are made available via international e-retailers like Expansys.
Sharp has now launched two new almost bezel-free smartphones namely the “Aquos Compact” (model number: SH-02H) and the “Aquos Zeta” (model number: SH-01H). Both the handsets are apparently headed to NTT DoCoMo.
Sharp Aquos Compact
The Sharp Aquos Compact specifications include a pocket-friendly 4.7-inch IGZO LCD display, bundled with 1080p screen resolution. Speaking of size, the handset flaunts the following dimension: 126 x 66 x 9 mm. In comparison, the mini device Sony Xperia Z5 Compact comes with a 4.6-inch display, 720p resolution and measures 127 x 65 x 8.9 mm, GSM Arena reported.
Under the hood, the Sharp Aquos Compact comes powered by a Snapdragon 808 SoC and backed by 3 GB of RAM. The device comes equipped with 16 GB of expandable storage space and it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. Other key features include a solid 2,810 mAh battery and 4G LTE connectivity.
The handset sports a 13.1-megapixel rear-facing camera unit with f/1.9 aperture, in addition to a 5-megapixel selfie clicker at the front. To top it off, the Aquos Compact handset reportedly comes with water-resistant exterior and hence, it is IP 68 certified.
Sharp Aquos Zeta
The Sharp Aquos Zeta features a relatively bigger 5.3-inch IGZO LCD display, aided by 1080p screen resolution. The handset measures 139 x 74 x 8 mm. In comparison, a 5.1-inch display clad Samsung Galaxy S6 boasts a dimension of 143.4 x 70.5 x 6.8 mm.
Furthermore, the Sharp Aquos Zeta comes with an IP 58 rating for water-resistance. Other key features include a 13-megapixel main camera, Snapdragon 808 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of memory and a solid 3,100 mAh battery unit.
The stand-out feature of the Zeta is the addition of a fingerprint sensor, located on the rear of the handset. Plus, this handset will reportedly be made available as a Disney themed version as well, along with Sparkle Pink and Sparkle Blue variants.
