The Samsung Galaxy S5 is on store shelves with tons of complex features, but for those who are new to Samsung's corner of the Android universe, even some basic tasks can be a challenge. One of the simplest things you might want to do on the Galaxy S5 is to take a screenshot of the display - be it to share a hilarious auto-correct mishap, a funny part of a webpage, or a memorable moment in a game. How do you do this?
Just hold the 'Home'
button (the big rectangular physical key below the display), and while
holding it, click the power/lock key on the right. The screen will flash
for a fraction of a second, indicating that it has stored the
screenshot. You can then access the picture of your screen in the
Gallery app, under the Screenshots folder.
It's
a simple trick that can be useful in many situations, and it actually
works on all recent Samsung Android devices - the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note
3, and others. While other, non-Samsung devices might not capture
screenshots in the same way, you should keep in mind that Samsung has
been using it all along - chances are that even on a future Samsung
Galaxy S6 you could take a screenshot that way.
