New Google Now Screenshots Hint at Android 5.0

 Android 5.0
Google has for long been grabbing the spotlight, thanks to numerous leaks ahead of its key announcements. Recently, a Nexus 5 leaked video and a redesigned phone dialer app appeared online which hinted at an Android 4.4.3 release and the leaks later turned out to be true.
With just a couple of weeks left for the highly-anticipated Google I/O conference, the Android maker has teased a few screenshots hinting at a probable release of the next Android iteration, Android 5.0.

New Google screenshots for Google Now's new World Cup feature hint at Android 5.0
The screenshots are part of an official tweet from Google announcing that match scores and schedules for the World Cup would be available via Google Now for Android and iOS.
A glance at the screenshots reveals some interesting information about Google Now's new World Cup feature wherein the system clock time reads 5:00.
This is seen as Google's way of teasing its upcoming Android operating system ahead of the launch, which has been consistent with every release since Android 2.3 Gingerbread. For instance, Android 2.3 was then teased with the clock time reading 2:30.
It should be noted that all devices listed on the Google Play Store read 4:40 on their clocks and not 5:00 as they ship with Android 4.4 out of the box.
To further strengthen this theory, recently leaked pictures of UI updates and tweaks for Android such as Project Hera clearly hint at a major overhaul of the existing Android interface.

In related news, Google has reportedly started working on a new project called Quantum Paper, which will unify the UI elements for Google apps on Android, iOS and on the web.
Consequently, the refreshed look of the new UI has been evident in the latest version of Google+ and also some noticeable changes appear on Gmail for components such as Finance, Travel and Purchases.
A new pinned feature and Snooze option for unread mail in Gmail also appear in the redesigned interface.
