Xiaomi to release 4G smartphones as soon as possible

 Xiaomi 4G
Xiaomi saw a meteoric rise in the last years, currently being China’s third-largest smartphone vendor - ahead of Apple, ZTE, Huawei and other older handset makers. The company intends to ship at least 60 million smartphones this year, including the first models with 4G connectivity.

According to Focus Taiwan, Xiaomi president Bin Lin said that 4G-capable Xiaomi handsets would hopefully be launched “as soon as possible.” While Bin Lin didn’t provide more details about this, we assume that one of the company’s upcoming 4G LTE smartphones will be the rumored Xiaomi Mi3S. The Mi3S should be based on Android KitKat, offering high-end specs like a quad-core 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 5-inch 1080p display, and an 8MP front-facing camera.

As previously reported, a 4G version of the affordable Red Rice / Hongmi smartphone (pictured above) might also arrive later this year.

Back in April, Xiaomi announced its expansion in new markets, including India, Brazil, and some European countries. The company doesn’t have plans to enter the US market yet (or, if it does, it’s keeping them secret for now).
