Google Camera updated with remote shutter through Android Wear |
The big new
feature is remote shutter functionality, meaning that you can use your
smartwatch to take a picture with your camera. That's pretty cool,
although it is also not exactly a feature that many people are likely to
use, because you'd need to not only have an Android Wear device and a
phone running Android 4.3 or higher (only about 27% of the ecosystem),
but also a tripod for your phone. That's likely a fairly small group
right there. The cooler part of the feature is that after you take the
picture, you'll get a preview of the image on your smartwatch.
The
update also tweaks the UI for panoramas and photo spheres which makes
the alignment dots bigger and easier to see. The update for Google
Camera is rolling out in stages, so you may not be seeing it right away,
but it should make it to your device soon enough.
