BlackBerry 'Venice' slider captured on camera once again
The Blackberry Venice has been entertaining our imagination ever since the company gave us a fleeting glimpse
of the smartphone at MWC back in March. There's been new info trickling
out every now and then, and we've been led to believe it's set to arrive in November on AT&T.
Evident from the start, the Venice will be a slider, with the
physical keyboard tucked underneath the display, when not in use.
Imagine though, you're not writing a lengthy business email, but only
need to jot down a quick note. Well, there will be an onscreen keyboard
for those occasions, or at least that's what this new leaked image
suggests.

BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition hits Amazon for $549
BlackBerry continues to defiantly churn out smartphones despite dwindling sales. The new Silver Edition of the Passport has coincided with the launches of competitors -- using the term somewhat loosely -- like the Moto X Style and OnePlus 2
over the past week or so. Having gone on sale through BlackBerry
earlier this week with a bunch of added accessories, Amazon also now has
the device up for sale at the same $549 price point. But if you do opt
to purchase through the online retail giant, be mindful of the fact that
you don't get the bundled goodies valued upwards of $130.

BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition is now up for pre-order in the UK
Yesterday BlackBerry took the wraps off its latest smartphone - the Passport Silver Edition.
While it's really little more than a new color variant for this model,
the company launched it like it's an entirely new device. The silver hue
and metal frame do look nice, but on the inside the specs are identical
to those of the black Passport.

BlackBerry CEO calls for a law to oblige developers to make their content available for BB OS
In the midst of another flurry of Net Neutrality discussions, BlackBerry
CEO John Chen has seen fit to draw analogies and proclaim app
neutrality to be just as important. The message comes in the form of an
open letter, sent to various members of US senate and president Barack
Obama.
Mr. Chen describes how BlackBerry has been able to stabilize from the state of constant plummet thanks to opening its service up and providing its BBM messenger app and BES device manager to all major platforms.
In contrast to that, Mr. Chen says, Apple withholds its iMessage service from the non-iOS world and companies like Netflix is refusing to create an app for BlackBerry users. It is here, where the CEO likens this situation to the Net Neutrality issue – as iOS and Android users have had access to more applications on their mobile devices, therefore – access to a wider variety of Internet services, BlackBerry users appear as a lower tier of consumers, being nigh discriminated against. As a solution to this, John Chen asks that a law be put in place, forcing app developers to release their work not only for iOS and Android, but BlackBerry as well, ensuring that everyone has access to the same kind of content.
We have to say, while some of these words ring true at some level, third party developers should have the freedom to choose which platform they spend their time developing for. Some will invest the precious resource in a single platform only, making a premium product they usually charge slightly more for. Others churn out apps for every OS there is, pricing them low or infesting them with ads / in-app purchases. Ultimately, though, it is a business decision, which, if taken away from the developers with such a law, could raise a lot more red flags than it's trying to put down.
At least that's our take on it – what do you think?

With 'Classic,' BlackBerry Goes Backs To Its Roots, Bets You Miss A Physical Keyboard
BlackBerry has played underdog for nearly a decade since its heyday, but the manufacturer hopes its new BlackBerry Classic smartphone will remind the world what their thumbs once loved about physical keyboards.
BlackBerry tried to compete in a world of touch screens but now is focusing hard on the market that drove its adoption in the first place: business enterprise users. Many of its loyal customers include security-focused businesses that not only require software to protect their secrets but also have relied on devices like the BlackBerry Bold 990 for years.

Samsung and BlackBerry announce strategic partnership
![]() |
| Samsung and BlackBerry announce strategic partnership |
Samsung and BlackBerry announced a strategic partnership. The deal will
bring the Canadian company’s highly praised mobile security solutions to
the Korean giant’s lineup of Android devices.
The end result of the partnership between the two companies will be
available in early 2015. It will merge BlackBerry’s BES12 cross-platform
EMM solution and Samsung’s KNOX into a single security suite for Galaxy
smartphones and tablets.
Samsung KNOX and BES12 will offer complete separation of business and personal data. The upcoming security suite will also provide enhancements that address some of the Android-specific security issues.
The deal is a win for both parties. It will instantly make Samsung a major player on the enterprise market. BlackBerry on the other hand, will surely welcome the fresh stream of cash to its business.

BlackBerry World posts promo for the BlackBerry Classic
While not stuffed to the gills with apps the way that the Apple App
Store and the Google Play Store are, BlackBerry World is where those
using the platform turn, to download games, apps and content. Since a
large contingent of 'Berry users turn to BlackBerry World religiously,
it turns out to be a great spot for the company to post information
relating to the next new BlackBerry handset release.
This morning, visitors checking into BlackBerry World might have been excited to see a promotional ad on the top of their screen, showing a partial image of the BlackBerry Classic. This is the handset with the old-school trackpad and function keys, but with many of the modern capabilities that BlackBerry 10.3 can offer.

While the unannounced BlackBerry Passport has received a great deal of hype, BlackBerry has another high-end handset, the BlackBerry Classic,
expected to be released before the end of the year. The BlackBerry
Passport is expected to be supported by the enterprise, and by
smartphone buyers who usually purchase flagship handsets powered by iOS,
