Huawei has gotten heat about its EMUI skin being too much like iOS which is why the company is working hard to make EMUI 5.0 feel much less complex and "trying to be like iPhone". Rather, Huawei wants the UI to be more user friendly for US consumers, while still keeping the advanced features that its customers love overseas.

For the first time Huawei has replaced Microsoft as the third largest mobile phone vendor in the world, according to Q2 2015 research released by Strategy Analytics on Thursday. Meanwhile Xiaomi’s growth is slowing to the point where it may soon be out of the top five global rankings.

Huawei Maimang 4 is the G8 in China, powered by the Snapdragon 616

The version of the Huawei G8 expected to be available in China is reportedly known as the Huawei Maimang 4. The name isn't the only thing different between the two devices. Unlike the G8, which is powered by the Snapdragon 615 SoC, the Maimang 4 has the Snapdragon 616 under the hood. The difference between the Snapdragon 615 and Snapdragon 616 goes to the core of the matter.

Huawei to be the first Chinese manufacturer to both build and sell smartphones in India

In the wake of reports claiming that Foxconn is looking to establish manufacturing in India, effectively moving a part of iPhone production to the country, and Xiaomi trying to build a solid foothold there as well, it seems Huawei might actually beat both. Reuters reports that the latter has been greenlighted by India's Ministry of Home Affairs to build and sell its own handsets in the country, which means that it's just a few final approvals away from finalizing the agreement.

India is a huge and fast-growing market, with estimates showing 150 million active smartphone users now, and predictions saying that this number will grow by 26% every year, up until 2019. This makes it an alluring target for smartphone manufacturers and that is why we often see exclusive launches for the country.

So, Huawei did already have an R&D division established in India, and a manufacturing plant, which made handsets for export only. This latest greenlight will allow the company to build and sell smartphones within the country, which should, naturally, make it easier for it to offer lower-priced products to the domestic market.

Now, whether the rumored 5.7” Nexus is going to be built in India – we'd wager no. Huawei is still far from fully establishing its operations in the country, and the 2015 Nexuses should be nearing production stages any month now. Besides, we get the feeling that this exact operation in India would mainly concentrate on building exclusive smartphones for the country, though, we can't say for sure.

The Chinese telecommunications-equipment company Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. anticipates its already impressive annual revenue to continue growing, according to a new year’s message from CEO Ken Hu cited by Reuters. Because of advances in cloud computing and higher demand for smart devices, the firm expects to have booked $46 billion in sales last year, a boost of 15 percent year over year. It previously reported its smartphone segment alone had $11.8 billion in revenue in 2014, an increase of more than 30 percent on the same basis.

Huawei this week announced the Honor 4X - its first smartphone to be powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor (quad-core, 1.2 GHz). The handset was first spotted last week, when we told you that it could cost $130. In reality, the Honor X costs more, though it’s still a pretty affordable device.

Customers in China can pre-order the Huawei Honor 4X for 1299 CNY (about $212), and the smartphone should start shipping on November 6.

A few days ago, we saw the Huawei Honor 4X comprehensively leaked after it got certified for sale on the Chinese market.

The leak brought us some pictures of the handset, its specs, as well as a rumored price point of CNY 800 (that would be $130 or €103 at the current exchange rates).

New information, however, seems to contradict that. According to another source, the Honor 4X will definitely be priced under CNY 1,000, though it will probably go for CNY 899. That translates into $146 or €115.
