Lenovo Golden Warrior launches July 18th with true octa-core power under the hood
Earlier this month, we told you about the unveiling of the Lenovo Golden Warrior. This morning, Lenovo announced that the handset will first be made available to Weibo members for a special price of $32, starting at 10am on July 14th. For those who can't take advantage of such a sweet deal, the Golden Warrior will be offered by on-line retailer JD.com, starting on July 18th. The version for China Mobile will cost 798 Yuan ($129 USD) while the model
for China Unicom will be priced at 898 Yuan ($145 USD). Both variants will offer 4G LTE connectivity over the respective network.

The Lenovo Golden Warrior is powered by the true octa-core MT-6592 CPU processor from MediaTek, running at 1.7GHz, and also features the Mali-450 MP4 GPU. The device presents a 5 inch IPS display, with resolution of 720 x 1280. On board is 2GB of RAM with 16GB of native storage. A 32GB capacity microSD slot is offered to those who need additional memory. Back and front-facing cameras weigh in at 13MP and 5MP respectively, and Android 4.4 is pre-installed.

This model is a good example of the value-priced handsets that are coming out of China for domestic use. The MT-6592 octa-core chip captures headlines, yet is available without busting manufacturer's budgets. Some sacrifice is made by using a 720p resolution on the 5 inch screen. While the resulting 294ppi pixel density is far from the 441ppi reading that today's top-shelf models offer, the total package seems like a great deal, even if you are not a Weibo subscriber.
