Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet |
In case you need a refresher, the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is the slimmest and lightest 10.1-inch tablet. It is only a quarter of an inch thick and weighs under a pound, so portability is one of its strongest selling points. The device's IP58 rating ensures protection against dust and
water damage. The tablet also comes with a beautiful, 1920 by 1200 pixel Triluminos display, a powerful, 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 system-on-chip, and 3GB of RAM, which makes it one of the top Android tablets out there, at least hardware-wise. Of course, the Xperia Z2 Tablet for Verizon will run on the carrier's speedy LTE network. The only thing you probably won't be getting much of is battery life. The slate's 6000mAh cell is smaller in size when compared to those inside other 10-inchers, but that's the trade-off for having such a slim and light tablet. For more details, check out our Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet review based on the Wi-Fi-only model.
On
the software side of things, the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet runs Android
4.4.2 KitKat with Sony's custom interface on top. To sweeten the deal,
Sony is treating Z2 Tablet buyers to six blockbuster movies, early
access to "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" movie when it becomes available for
download, and 90 days of free music streaming via Sony's Music
Unlimited service. Plus, the slate comes with PS4 integration and access
to the PlayStation Network.
Verizon is
also going to launch accessories for the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet. These
include the SCR12 Style Cover Stand, BSC10 Bluetooth Speaker with
Magnetic Charging Pad, SRS-X3 Portable Bluetooth Speaker, CPF-10L
Portable Power Supply, and the DK39 Magnetic Charging Dock. Sony's
SmartBand and SmartWatch 2 Pro wearables will be offered as well.
In
terms of price for the Verzion Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet, we have no
information yet, but we're assuming that details will come sooner than
later. On a related note, the Wi-Fi-only, 16GB Z2 Tablet model costs
$500 at Sony's online store. Here's a bunch of photos of that particular
model.
