One of the models of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S6 smartphone has arrived in India for testing, according to a report, based on local import records.
The Galaxy S6 model, which carries the model number “SM-G920F,” has been sent from South Korea “for R&D purpose,” suggesting that the device is not a retail unit, SamMobile reported, adding that the letter “F” in the model number signifies that the handset is a European variant.
The Galaxy S6 model was listed in Zauba, an import/export tracking website, which mentioned the import price of the device as 18,938 rupees, which is about $300. However, this is not likely to be the price of the actual Galaxy S6 when it will hit the global market next year, according to a report from Phone Arena, which said that the device would probably cost twice the amount initially.
A report in the Korean media said earlier this week that Samsung could announce the Galaxy S6 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015, which will be held next month in Las Vegas. The report also claimed that the new handset could be accompanied by a curved screen variant with a dual-edged display similar to that found on the Galaxy Note 4 Edge.
SamMobile, however, said that the unveiling of Galaxy S6 is not expected to occur at the CES 2015. Instead, the device is more likely to be announced sometime in late February or early March next year.
According to rumors, the Galaxy S6 could feature a larger, 5.5-inch QHD display with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, a 20-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. Other specifications of the handset could include a 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 processor, 3GB RAM and Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system.
