Project Tango developer tablet arrives in the Google Play store |
Google’s Project Tango tablet development kit
quietly arrived in the Google Play store. The feature-rich slate in not
available to purchase yet - it is listed as “not for sale at this
time.”
The Project Tango tablet is geared towards professional developers
interested in 3D sensing. It contains custom hardware and software that
allow it to track 3D motion and capture geometry of the environment at
the same time. Google announced Project Tango back in February.
In order to fulfill its special duties, the Project Tango slate comes
equipped with serious hardware. They includes NVIDIA Tegra K1 SoC, 4GB
of RAM, 128GB of built-in memory, 7” 1920 x 1200 display, and full
connectivity suite. A 4 MP 2µm RGB-IR pixel camera sits on the back,
coupled with 1MP unit with IR LED in the front.
All the above hardware goodness won’t come cheap when available. The Project Tango tablet will be priced at $1,024. The device will be sold “as is” - it will have no warranty. Returns for refund will not be accepted either.
